What is Vermeil Gold?

Here's what you need to know!
Vermeil is composed of solid sterling silver with a thick layer of real gold.
The gold layer finish must be at least 10k or above for a piece to be considered Vermeil in the U.S., but most high-quality pieces have a layer of 14k, 18k, or 24k gold.
Vermeil is usually thinner and the gold layer is achieved by using gold leaf or powder instead of a sheet of gold.
Vermeil MUST have a sterling silver base, instead of brass or other metals.
Here's how Vermeil is made
The sterling silver piece is dipped into an electroplating solution for a short time, which binds a thin layer of gold to the surface of the sterling silver metal, creating an even layer of gold.
With proper care, Vermeil pieces can stand the test of time. Vermeil is hypoallergenic and good for all skin types! It's made to last and less likely to tarnish, making it a great alternative to solid gold pieces.
